Nha Trang mud baths: what to expect, prices and where to go

Nha Trang mud baths: I-Resort, Tháp Bà or Hòn Tằm?

It is hard to do anything else in a mud bath. You sit shoulder-deep in a warm mineral mixture, scoop it over your arms and look at the equally muddy people beside you. Your phone is in the locker, there is nowhere to swim and no reason to hurry. Twenty minutes later, it is time to get out, although your day off has only just begun.

In Nha Trang, “going for a mud bath” usually means several hours by the water. After the mud come showers, mineral pools, waterfalls, jacuzzis and a lounger. I-Resort adds water slides; Hòn Tằm adds a boat ride and a beach. Think about the whole day when choosing: do you want a quiet swim, something to keep the children busy, or an island escape?

The three popular complexes have distinct characters. Tháp Bà is a good introduction to the treatment itself, I-Resort suits a long day of pools and slides, and Hòn Tằm offers a sea crossing and views over the bay. None is limited to twenty minutes in mud.

First the mud, then the water

The baths use a clay-based mineral material mixed with mineral water. The result is quite fluid: it moves around the tub and runs off your skin. If photographs made you imagine thick mud that would keep you almost motionless, the consistency may surprise you.

You shower first, then settle into the tub with your companions. Scoops let you pour mud over your shoulders and arms, which usually remain above the surface. There is nothing else you need to do. It is a brief pause that makes even the most energetic member of the group sit still for a while.

The mud stage usually lasts 15–20 minutes. What follows depends on the programme. At Tháp Bà, for instance, it includes a short pause, rinsing off, water jets, a mineral bath and shared pools. Other complexes vary some of the stages, so complete your included treatments after changing before choosing a lounger.

Water massage comes in different forms too: jets may arrive from the side or water may fall from above. The pressure can be stronger than you would like. There is no need to endure it just to complete the programme; move to a gentler pool instead.

This is usually where the visit starts to stretch out. After the bath, you want another soak in warm water, a visit to the waterfall, a swim or lunch. Mud becomes the unusual opening, while most of your day is spent in clear water.

Tháp Bà: your own tub, then a leisurely swim

Tháp Bà is convenient if your main aim is to try a mud bath without turning it into a major excursion. The complex is on the mainland at 438 Ngô Đến. Do not confuse it with the Po Nagar towers, also known as Tháp Bà: the temples and the baths are different places.

Tubs sit beneath shelters among greenery. There are small ones for couples and larger ones for groups. The basic hot-bath programme allows twenty minutes in mud, followed by another half-hour in a mineral bath. You will have changed both water and setting before reaching the shared pool.

A private tub means that only your group uses it during the treatment. The rest of the grounds are shared: other visitors use the pools, waterfalls and loungers. Keep that in mind if you were picturing a secluded spa day for two.

After the treatments, stay by the mineral pools, sit in a jacuzzi, try the cascades or settle beneath an umbrella. This is a place to spend time without a fixed programme: swim, dry off, get back in the water.

For a first visit, Tháp Bà offers a straightforward format: your own tub, a sequence of water treatments, then time to swim. Come in the morning, or at least well before closing. Otherwise, the nicest part, when you no longer have to watch the clock, will be too short.

I-Resort: half a day can pass before you reach the slides

At I-Resort, there is always another patch of water to try after the mud bath. A mineral pool is nearby, then a jacuzzi, then a waterfall. There is also a separate area with slides.

The mud tubs sit between stone walls, surrounded by greenery and thatched roofs. The complex is on the mainland in Xuân Ngọc, so the journey does not depend on boat services.

The basic ticket includes twenty minutes in a mud bath, mineral pools, waterfalls, jacuzzis and the water park. Herbal bathing is part of a different programme. An ordinary day by the water does not require a large package of extra spa treatments.

I-Resort works well for a group with different interests. Some can head for the slides after the mud, while others stay by the warm pools and loungers. You can spend hours here without reaching the water park: the water facilities offer much more than slides.

With children, agree in advance when you will go to the slides. Otherwise, adults may linger in the pools while a child waits for the part they came for. Individual attractions have restrictions; a children’s admission ticket does not grant access to every slide.

There are also more secluded Mud House and VIP programmes with additional treatments. They are worth considering if you want a dedicated spa session. Before a first visit, though, a simpler question is more useful: does everyone actually want the mud bath?

I-Resort sells admission just to the mineral pools and water park. Anyone who dislikes the idea of mud does not have to pay for that treatment merely to join the group.

Hòn Tằm: a mud bath becomes an island outing

At Hòn Tằm, the day begins on the sea. The boat crosses the bay in about ten minutes, but first you need to reach the pier, check in and board. Even if you are coming only for the mud bath, it is already a small adventure.

The tubs stand on terraces among trees. During the treatment, you are surrounded by stone and greenery; afterwards, you can move to a large pool overlooking the bay. This change of setting is what makes Hòn Tằm special: from a small tub to an open seascape.

Pay attention to beach access when choosing a ticket. Mud baths and beaches are sold in different combinations. The simplest ticket does not automatically open every area of the island. If you want lunch, a sea swim and time to stay until the return boat, the programme must explicitly include meals and the relevant beach zones.

Check re-entry conditions for the mud-bath area as well. Some packages may allow only one entry. If you plan to leave for the beach and return to the pools, ask before going out.

Hòn Tằm is best enjoyed on a direct trip to the island, with a day for baths, lunch, pools and the beach if included. On a multi-island tour, the mud baths are one stop, and you will have to leave with the group. That makes a substantial difference if you want an unhurried day by the water.

How much a visit costs

The prices below were checked on 18 October 2026. All amounts are in Vietnamese dong per adult. Group size means the number of people sharing one tub.

ProgrammePrice per personIncluded
Tháp Bà: hot mud bath for 1–2 guests350,000; online when checked: 299,250Private mud and mineral baths, water treatments, shared pools
I-Resort: mud bath for 1–3 guests400,00020 minutes in mud, mineral pools, waterfalls, jacuzzis and water park
Hòn Tằm: Mudbath 3450,000Mud and mineral baths, return boat
Hòn Tằm: Mudbath 1650,000The same programme with a set-menu lunch
Hòn Tằm: SeaMud VVIP 11,030,000Treatments, boat, beach zones A and B, buffet lunch

For a couple, basic admission at regular rates totals 700,000 dong at Tháp Bà, 800,000 at I-Resort and 900,000 at Hòn Tằm. Add return transport to the first two complexes. The listed Hòn Tằm packages include the boat, but you still need to reach the pier, and the cheapest option does not include lunch.

Larger groups pay less. Tháp Bà charges 300,000 dong per person for three to five sharing a tub, and 260,000 for six or more. At I-Resort, a tub for four to ten costs 350,000 per person. An advertised “from” price can therefore differ considerably from the rate for a couple.

I-Resort admission without a mud bath, just to the mineral pools and water park, costs 200,000 dong per adult.

The basic programmes listed include a towel, bathing clothes and a locker; Tháp Bà also lists a bottle of water. Before buying, compare current ticket inclusions on the pages for Tháp Bà, I-Resort and Hòn Tằm. Focus on tub capacity, accessible areas, meals and transport.

When to arrive so you still have time to relax

Morning is a convenient time to reach the mainland complexes. I-Resort opens from 8 am to 5:30 pm, accepts arrivals until 4:30 pm and closes its slides at 5 pm. Tháp Bà’s general rules list 7:30 am–5 pm.

Arriving late mainly cuts into your free time after the treatments. You may still manage the bath, but there will be little chance to linger by the pool.

For Hòn Tằm, get the boat schedule for both directions in advance. Do not assume another boat will leave in a few minutes: arriving at the wrong time can mean a long wait. Guests are asked to reach the pier fifteen minutes before departure. Choose your return service before settling by the pool.

In rough seas, save Hòn Tằm for another day. I-Resort and Tháp Bà can be reached by road. Rain matters too: the warm bath is only a small part of the visit, while most pools and paths between areas are outdoors. For a day largely under cover, try our three rainy-day itineraries for Nha Trang.

What to bring

Your own swimsuit saves choosing from the provided clothing. Bring dry clothes, non-slip sandals and a bag for wet things too. For relaxing after the bath, add a hat and sun protection.

Tie up long hair. Put jewellery and your phone in the locker before the treatment, so you do not have to find somewhere to put them with wet hands.

With small children, a mainland complex is an easier starting point: you can leave when a child is tired rather than wait for a boat. Tháp Bà’s children’s pool is 80 centimetres deep, so adult supervision is still necessary. I-Resort prices children’s admission by height: under one metre is free with an adult, from one to under one-and-a-half metres is the child rate, and from one-and-a-half metres the adult rate applies.

If your health limits hot bathing, discuss the visit with your doctor beforehand.

Leave your evening free after the baths. The treatment itself is easy to fit into a schedule: twenty minutes and it is done. Leaving on time is harder once you have found a comfortable lounger, with water nearby and no particular desire to rush anywhere.
