Where to Post an Ad in Vietnam: How to Sell an Item, Offer a Service, or Find Clients
Life in Vietnam constantly creates situations where you need to offer something to other people. Before moving, you might sell a monitor, bicycle, furniture or household appliances. A professional needs new clients. An apartment owner is looking for a tenant. A rental business wants to rent out a scooter for a month, while a small business wants to tell people in its city about a local service. Often, these offers appear only in Facebook groups or Telegram and Zalo communities. You may get a quick response there, but the post soon sinks down the feed. A few days later it is hard to find, and you have to repeat the main details to every new person.
On Vietnam by Anilau, the “Offer” type is used for ordinary private and commercial listings. It suits situations where you are offering someone a product, service, rental, vehicle, job or another specific option.
The purpose of a good listing is not merely to say “I have this,” but to give people enough information to decide quickly whether the offer suits them and whether they should contact the author.
When to use the “Offer” type
The simplest question is: are you offering something to other people, or are you looking for something yourself?
If you are offering something, the “Offer” type is right in most ordinary cases. For example:
- selling a new or used item;
- renting out a home;
- renting out a bicycle, scooter or car;
- a household or professional service;
- a transfer;
- lessons and training;
- a consultation;
- a job vacancy;
- temporary work;
- repair or maintenance;
- renting out equipment.
If you are selling a laptop in Nha Trang, offering photography in Da Nang, renting out a room in Ho Chi Minh City or providing transfers from Cam Ranh Airport, those are offers.
Some tasks have their own formats. A permanent listing for a restaurant, café, salon or other physical venue belongs in “Places and venues.” A specific concert, lecture or festival belongs in “Events.” Looking for bloggers and advertising partners belongs in “Promo.”
Where people usually post listings in Vietnam
Different channels serve different purposes. Facebook groups let you quickly reach a community in a particular city. Zalo is widely used for local communication. Telegram is useful in expat and language communities. Instagram and TikTok are especially convenient for professionals and small businesses that need to show a portfolio or the visual side of a service. But a social media post and a well-structured listing are not the same thing. A chat message is mainly aimed at people who see it today. A listing remains in a catalog, has a direct link, and lets you structure the price, photos, location, specifications and contact details clearly. So it is more practical not to choose just one channel: create a main listing first, then share its link wherever the right audience is.
What makes sense to sell locally
Local listings are especially useful for items that are easier to hand over in person than to sell through a large international marketplace. These might include electronics, furniture, household appliances, a bicycle, sports equipment, tools, children’s items, homeware, musical instruments or equipment for remote work. In tourist and expat cities, people often buy things for a few months and sell them again before moving. As a result, a good used item can have a perfectly natural second-hand market.
First, a buyer needs to understand four things: exactly what is being sold, its condition, where it is and how much it costs.
If even one of these is missing, there will be much more unnecessary messaging.
The title should name the item
Instead of:
Great laptop for sale, cheap
write:
MacBook Air M2 13″, 16/256 GB — Nha Trang
Instead of:
Selling a motorbike urgently
write:
Honda Vision 2023 — Da Nang
People should be able to tell what is inside the listing right from the catalog. In the description, state the item’s age, condition, what is included, known defects, the handover area and payment terms. Electronics need the model and main specifications; furniture needs dimensions; vehicles need key parameters and information about the documents. Show a used item honestly. A scratch hidden in a photo will still be noticed at the meeting and will only waste both people’s time.
Make the price visible
“Price in DM” rarely helps sell an item faster. Buyers almost always compare several options. If one listing already gives the price, condition and area, while every detail has to be requested from another seller, the first listing has the advantage. If the price is fixed, say so. If it is negotiable, say that too. If the cost of a service, transfer or rental depends on the circumstances, explain how:
Transfer from Cam Ranh Airport to Nha Trang — from 300,000 VND, depending on the address and vehicle type.
or:
Photo session — from 1,500,000 VND; the final price depends on the duration and number of edited photos.
That at least gives people an idea of the price range.
Use real photos
When selling an item, photos are often more important than a long description. Show the whole item first, then its details and actual condition. It is useful to photograph electronics while switched on. Photograph a vehicle from several sides, including the dashboard and visible damage. For furniture, include a shot that makes its size clear. Do not use only a picture from an online store if you are selling a used item. Photos should not show passport details, bank documents, card numbers or other personal information.
The city and district matter in Vietnam
“Located in Vietnam” is practically useless for a local listing. The country stretches over a great distance. Even within Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, traveling between districts can take a long time. So be specific:
Nha Trang, near Hòn Chồng
or:
Da Nang, An Thượng
or at least name the exact city. For a large piece of furniture, the location can matter more than a difference of a few hundred thousand dong. A buyer is more likely to collect a table in a neighboring district than arrange transport from another city. If delivery is possible, state that separately.
How to offer a service
A service needs a different presentation from an item.
Clients choose a photographer, teacher, repair specialist, designer, driver or consultant based not only on price. They want to understand what specific problem you solve and why they can trust you with it.
Instead of:
I offer high-quality photography services
write:
Photo sessions for couples, families and small brands in Nha Trang and Cam Ranh
Then state the areas you serve, languages, service format, duration, what the price includes and how it is calculated. If you have a website, portfolio, Instagram page or examples of your work, add a link. A real example is almost always more convincing than “personalized approach” and “high quality.”
Do not combine unrelated services
A bad example:
I repair phones, set up ads, organize tours, sell laptops and rent out an apartment.
This kind of listing works poorly both in the catalog and for the client. Separate different lines of work. Someone who needs a smartphone repaired should land on a page specifically about phone repair. Combine only closely related services, such as photography, photo editing and short videos.
Rentals need clear terms
Rental listings often leave out the most important details. State the period, price, deposit, available dates and what is included. Instead of:
Scooter for rent, good price
write:
Honda Vision for rent in Nha Trang — 2.5 million VND per month, 2 million deposit, available from November 1. Two helmets included.
People can immediately tell whether the offer suits them. For a vehicle, also state which documents are provided and what is included in the price. The renter still needs to check independently whether they are legally allowed to drive that vehicle in Vietnam.
The language of a listing affects its audience
Vietnam by Anilau is intended for more than Russian-speaking users. Local residents, foreigners, tourists and long-term residents from many countries live in Vietnam at the same time. If you are ready to work with an international audience, it is useful to have separate versions of your listing in the relevant languages. Do not put five translations one after another in a single description. The price, specifications, location and terms must match across all versions. Language is especially important for services. If you work only in Russian, that is an important detail. If you can serve clients in English, Vietnamese, Korean or Chinese, that considerably broadens your audience.
Trust matters more than advertising promises
On a classifieds platform, the parties usually do not know each other in advance. The more expensive the transaction, the more important transparency becomes. Do not hide significant defects. Do not claim licenses, certificates or qualifications you do not have. Do not present someone else’s work as your portfolio. A professional page, website and genuine reviews can provide additional reassurance. If a seller or buyer rushes a major transaction with “you have to decide right now,” that is a reason not to speed up, but instead to check the details more carefully.
Safety for private transactions
For an inexpensive item, ordinary precautions are enough. If you do not want to invite an unknown buyer to your home, meet in a familiar public place. Check that the money has actually arrived in your banking app rather than relying on a transfer screenshot. Do not share verification codes, passwords, banking details or documents that are not needed for the transaction. Be wary of schemes where a “buyer” sends an unfamiliar link to a courier or payment service and asks you to pay a fee in advance. For transactions involving vehicles, real estate and other expensive assets, a listing alone is not enough: check the documents and legal terms separately.
Should you also post a listing in groups?
Yes, especially if you need to sell an item quickly. But you can use the listing as the main page and post a short announcement in groups:
Selling an office chair in Nha Trang, 1.5 million VND. Good condition, height adjustable. Photos and details at the link.
That keeps all the full information in one place, while Facebook, Telegram or Zalo provide additional reach. If the price or terms change, update the main listing first.
Keep the listing up to date
If an item is reserved but has not been collected yet, you can state that in the listing. After the final sale, it is better to deactivate the listing. The same applies to rentals and services with limited availability. If an apartment is already occupied or you are temporarily not taking new orders, update the information. An up-to-date catalog is more useful to buyers and sellers alike.
How to use “Offer” on Vietnam by Anilau
If you are selling an item, providing a service, renting out a home or vehicle, or making another specific offer, choose the “Offer” type.
Say exactly what you are offering in the title. Add the category, city or district, and price if known. Include real photos and clear terms. Leave a contact method where you actually respond. Other types are available for specialized needs:
- “Places and venues” — a permanent page for a physical business or place of interest;
- “Events” — a specific event;
- “Promo” — finding bloggers and promotional partners;
- “Demand” — when you are looking for a product or service yourself.
Checklist for a good “Offer”
Before publishing, check that:
- the title makes it clear what is being offered;
- the right category is selected;
- the actual city and district are stated;
- the price and currency are clear;
- the photos show the actual item or service;
- the item’s condition or the service scope is described honestly;
- rental or ordering terms are clear;
- there is a working contact method;
- the language versions contain the same facts;
- the listing will be updated after a sale or change in terms.
The fewer basic questions a client needs to ask in a message, the better the listing is.
A good listing shortens the path to a deal
Private listings do not work because of special advertising formulas. They work when one person genuinely needs what another person is offering. The author’s job is to make that match as simple as possible.
“Offer” on Vietnam by Anilau creates a separate listing in a local catalog. Social media and chats do not become unnecessary; they simply turn into additional channels for sharing the link.
If you want to sell an item, rent out a property or find clients for a service, start not with a loud advertisement but with specific information: what is being offered, where it is, how much it costs and how to contact the author.
