Ho Chi Minh City Events: Concerts, Shows and Saigon Festivals

Ho Chi Minh City Events

In Ho Chi Minh City, often called Saigon, cultural life extends beyond late-night bars. You can hear a symphony concert, see a contemporary Vietnamese stage production, spend a day at a city festival or join a book event. This listing brings together major urban events and smaller initiatives by the people who live here.

Nguyen Hue Celebrations and the Saigon River

During Tet, Nguyen Hue Walking Street becomes a setting for floral displays and festive strolls. Another distinctive city celebration is the Ao Dai Festival, devoted to Vietnam’s traditional clothing. Collection presentations, cultural programmes and participation by local residents make it more than a conventional fashion runway event.

The Ho Chi Minh City River Festival explores another aspect of local life: the Saigon River, waterways and the city’s history. Its programmes include artistic performances and water sports activities. Other city celebrations mark Reunification Day on 30 April and Vietnam’s National Day on 2 September. Check the announcement for each event for performers, venues and entry arrangements.

Classical Music, Ballet and Contemporary Theatre

For symphony concerts, opera programmes and ballet, follow HBSO, the city’s performing arts company working across those three disciplines. The historic Saigon Opera House hosts musical evenings with Vietnamese and visiting performers. A building familiar from a city walk can become a reason to spend an evening inside its auditorium.

The same stage hosts Lune Production’s A O Show. Bamboo structures and woven baskets become part of acrobatics, dance and theatrical scenes accompanied by live music. The production explores Vietnamese village life and its encounter with the modern city, as a complete stage work rather than a sequence of folklore numbers. Check show dates separately from the theatre’s concert programme.

Book Events and Community Gatherings

Nguyen Van Binh Book Street has a quieter rhythm, with book launches, author meetings and cultural exhibitions. These events offer a chance to discover publishers and the people behind the books, beyond simply visiting a shop. A book event can be combined with a walk through central Saigon.

This events listing also welcomes small initiatives by local residents, expats and international communities. You can publish a free announcement on this website for a concert, talk, film screening, workshop, club meetup or children’s activity. Select the “Events” advertisement type and “Ho Chi Minh City” location, then add the date, address, language, participation fee and contact details. A small event does not need a large organisation behind it to reach potential participants.

Current Ho Chi Minh City event announcements appear below the text. The selection heading and the link to view all announcements open the city’s full events listing.
